Biography Joachim Schmeisser
In the early 1980s, he began his professional career as an advertising photographer and spent many years working for major international companies. Today, in addition to commercial photography, his work deals with the themes that have always interested him personally. These include beauty and transience as well as dignity and the idea that every individual person has a place in this world. Countless photojournalism endeavors led him to Africa, where he discovered his passion for the continent. He is motivated by his desire to take a look behind the façade and bring the invisible to light. In 2012, he received the prestigious Hasselblad Masters Award for his photographs of the “Orphan Elephants” of the David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust.
